EV Towing in Alpine,
Big Bend & Far West Texas
Yes — Alpine Towing safely tows electric vehicles anywhere in the Big Bend region, 24 hours a day, on a flatbed. That’s the only correct way to move most EVs, and out here, doing it right is the difference between a service call and a ruined drivetrain.

Why an EV breakdown out here is different
Run low on charge in the Big Bend,
and there’s no gallon of gas coming
When a gas vehicle runs dry on a remote West Texas highway, a fuel delivery gets it moving again. An electric vehicle that runs out of charge has no such shortcut — the fix is a charger that may be a hundred miles away, or a flatbed. Out here, it’s almost always the flatbed.
This is some of the most remote driving country in the lower 48. The distances between towns are long, cell coverage drops to nothing across whole stretches of US-90, US-385, TX-118, and FM 170, and the margin for a miscalculated range estimate is thin. We built Alpine Towing for exactly this country — and as more EVs make the drive to Big Bend, we made sure we were ready to move them the way the manufacturer intended.

The technical reason
Why your EV should ride on a flatbed
This isn’t a preference or an upsell. For most electric vehicles, it’s the only method the manufacturer suggests.
Our flatbed towing service keeps every wheel off the ground and the battery pack protected, start to finish. If you’re not sure whether your vehicle can be towed conventionally, the safe answer is simple: call us and ask before anyone hooks a chain to it.
The West Texas charging reality
One Supercharger in Alpine —
then a whole lot of open country
Alpine’s Tesla Supercharger, on the south side of town, is the region’s anchor for fast charging — and for a lot of drivers heading south, it’s the last fast charger they’ll see. From Alpine it’s roughly 100 miles down to Big Bend National Park through Terlingua and Study Butte, and that’s a round trip on the same charge before you’ve driven a single park road.
Beyond Alpine, the fast-charging map thins out fast. The US-90 corridor through Marfa, Fort Davis, Marathon and Sanderson still runs on Level 2 charging at best in most spots, and the nearest reliable DC fast chargers sit up on I-10 — Fort Stockton, Ozona, Junction — well over an hour away.
Inside the park itself, there’s effectively no public fast charging, and range estimates that felt comfortable at the trailhead can look very different against a headwind, a climb into the Chisos Basin, or a cold desert morning.
None of this is a reason to skip the drive — it’s some of the best driving in Texas. It’s just a reason to plan your range with a real margin, and to know who to call if the math doesn’t work out. When it doesn’t, we’re the flatbed that comes for your EV, day or night.
If you’re stranded
EV won’t move? Here’s what to do while you wait
Whether it’s a dead battery, a fault, or a breakdown far from a charger — a few smart moves keep you safe out here.
Equipped & trained for electric vehicles
The Right Truck and Someone
Experienced in Electric Vehicle Towing
Moving an EV isn’t just a flatbed job — it’s a flatbed job done by someone who understands high-voltage systems and respects the battery pack. Our operators are trained to load, secure and transport electric vehicles safely, including after a collision, where a damaged pack demands extra care and the right judgment about what to touch and what to leave alone.
Alpine Towing LLC operators hold Texas TDLR Incident Management Licenses and the highest-level crane and recovery certifications available, and we’re fully licensed and insured. That matters most on the calls that go sideways — an EV off the shoulder, a recovery in tight country, a long haul to the nearest dealer or qualified shop. And the price we quote is the price you pay: no hidden fees, no runaround. Need a jump or a lockout instead of a tow? That’s our roadside assistance. Headed for the park? Here’s our dedicated Big Bend towing & recovery page.
